November 5: Let the Field Rest

Mawnin', fam. š
Di moon is a waning crescent this morning, only about 13% lit, a thin silver fingernail rising before dawn. Di new moon land this Monday, November 9, around two o'clock in di morning. We're in di quiet end of di cycle now, di part for resting, not pushing. Think of a farmer up in di Manchester hills after di yam season done. He don't plant di same piece of ground again straight away. He clear it, cover it with trash and dry leaves, and let it lie fallow a while so di soil can drink rain and get back its strength. Nobody call him lazy. Him know that rested ground give di sweetest yam next time. That's di invitation today. Not every part of your life must be producing right now. Let one field rest, and trust that rest is part of di harvest.
Today's Jamaica Pulse Practice
Sit or lie down and let your shoulders drop like a field after di rain. Breathe in slow for four and feel your belly rise like soft ground. Hold for four, still and easy. Then breathe out for eight, long and slow, and let your whole body sink a little heavier into di chair or di bed. Do it five rounds. On di last breath out, whisper, "Rest is work too."
Tonight, di moon won't rise till about quarter to four in di morning, so di whole evening stay dark. Turn off one extra light after dinner, step outside, and look for di peenie wallie them blinking in di bush, or just di stars over di hills if di peenie wallie hiding. Stand there for a few breaths and don't plan anything, don't fix anything. Just let yourself be di resting ground. Then tell yourself, "Mi a rest, an mi still a grow."
Today's Affirmation
I am happy because I give myself permission to rest without guilt. I am healthy as I let my body and mind lie fallow and come back stronger. I am wealthy in di patience that knows good things grow in their season. And I am strong enough to stop, breathe, and trust di ground beneath me.
