Mawnin', fam. 🌖

Di moon is waning gibbous this morning, about 74% lit and getting a little lighter each night. Next stop is di last quarter moon on Sunday, November 1, around half past three in di afternoon our time. This is di season for mending, not rushing. Picture a fisherman down by di beach in Manchioneal, early morning, sitting on an upturned canoe with his net across his knees. He don't throw it out and buy a new one because of a few holes. He find each tear, tie it off, pull it tight, and by di time di sun climb high, di net ready to work again. Whatever feel a little torn in your life today, it can be mended, one knot at a time.

Today's Jamaica Pulse Practice

Sit with your back straight and your hands open in your lap, like you're holding that net. Breathe in for four and picture yourself finding one small tear. Hold for four and tie di knot. Breathe out slow for six and feel it pull tight and strong. Do it five rounds, and let each breath fix one little thing.

Tonight, di moon rise late, around ten o'clock. Before she come up, mend one small thing: sew back that loose button, fix di dripping pipe, or send a kind word to somebody you had a little quarrel with. Then step outside, listen to di crickets and di breeze in di breadfruit tree, and when di moon lift over di hills, tell yourself, "Mi a mend it. Knot by knot, mi whole again."

Today's Affirmation

I am happy because I choose to mend instead of throw away. I am healthy as I tend to di small tears before they grow. I am wealthy in di people and things worth fixing. And I am strong, knot by knot, whole and ready for di sea again.
